Muslim Hands is a charity organisation that has been operating in The Gambia for over three decades, supporting communities and individuals in the areas of education, health, food security, water, sanitation, hygiene among others.
In his opening of the health project at Farafenni Town recently, Ousman Jammeh, country director for Muslim Hands- The Gambia said: “We are pleased to be here today as a demonstration of our commitment in the advancement of the overall health standard of the Gambian populace.”
The event, he added, was one of several health humanitarian services his charitable organisation has been offering over the years.
“Most of our intervention had been traditionally concentrated in the West Coast Region, where we reach out to communities far and near to ensure that we are able to contribute our part to national development,” he said.
He stated that the partnership between Muslim Hands in collaboration with the National Eye Health Programme under the Ministry of Health is a clear testimony that if the organisation works with the government the Gambia it will be able to tackle a good number of its challenges and realise its developmental aspirations.
Jammeh commended Muslim Hands Canada for funding the project and also thanked the Health Ministry for playing a key role in the implementation of the project in the above-mentioned hospitals.
