OIC: Gambia an example of religious tolerance, says Tartastan Head of State

The  Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tartastan, Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia- Islamic World” Rustam Minnikhanov which is a region in the Russian Federation, hails The Gambia as a beacon of hope for modern humanity.

The RAIS is leading a delegation to participate in the 15th OIC Summit being held in Banjul. Russia has observer status at the OIC, and has a permanent representative in Saudi Arabia.

“We are very honoured to be a part of this historic summit, and being able to discuss pertinent issues that impacts on the socio-economic orientation of the Muslim Ummah,” he says.

“The Gambia has been able to live side by side with all religions positively for decades, and yet take its rightful role on the world stage with all Islamic partners.

“I am aware of the religious tolerance that exists in this beautiful country for many years and it should be nurtured for the world to learn from. The relationship it has with the Russian Federation a long rooted one, and we are very glad to be in Banjul, to participate and interact with our brothers and sisters.

“I wish to thank H.E. President Barrow for the warm hospitality, and through him the entire Gambian population. We wish to congratulate Gambia for hosting and role as next Chair of the OIC for the next three years.”

Meanwhile Tatarstan will be hosting the 15th edition of the annual International economic forum “Russia-Islamic world forum (Kazan Forum) later this month from  14 to 19 May 2024.
